Crusade Outdoors is a Washington-based mountain guiding company specializing in mountaineering and backcountry skiing. We focus on creating meaningful mountain experiences that balance adventure, education, and sound decision-making.​
Our approach is rooted in widely accepted guiding principles: clear communication, strong risk management, and efficient movement through mountain terrain. Whether it’s your first time in the alpine or you’re looking to build on existing experience, trips are designed to be supportive, engaging, and appropriately challenging.​

2026 Trips & Courses
During our first year of operations, guided trips will be offered at no cost. This approach allows us to continue refining systems, expanding familiarity with terrain, and welcome participants who may not otherwise pursue guided mountain experiences due to cost. It also supports the early growth of the Crusade Outdoors community and online presence.
All participants will be screened for fitness and experience to ensure objectives are appropriate and aligned with individual capabilities.
Mountaineering
Guided ascents of Washington’s volcanoes and classic alpine objectives. Emphasis on pacing, movement skills, and safe travel in glaciated terrain.
Backcountry Skiing
Human-powered ski tours focused on good terrain selection, snowpack awareness, and efficient uphill and downhill travel.
Courses & Instruction
Intro to mountaineering, crevasse rescue fundamentals, avalanche awareness, and backcountry travel skills designed to build confidence and independence.
About the Guide
Crusade Outdoors is owned and operated by Ryan Anselmi, a Washington-based mountain guide with a strong background in ski touring, alpine climbing, and mountain instruction.
Ryan has summited 6 PNW volcanoes and served as the lead climber on most of those ascents, responsible for route selection, pacing, and group safety. He enjoys helping people move confidently through mountain terrain while developing practical skills and good judgment.
Ryan is a certified Wilderness EMT and has completed formal training in avalanche safety and crevasse rescue, supported by years of personal practice and real-world application in both winter and alpine environments.
